Using Google Image Search as Reverse Image Search Engine

Using Google Image Search as Reverse Image Search Engine

Many of you already know that Google added new feature to its image search engine but still I will explain here for those users who still aren?t using it.
When we found some classic or unique images then we try to find out the source and the content of that image, for doing this, you need a reverse image search engine, you can find it on the internet but everyone?s favorite search engine is Google, so you can use Google image search in a reverse manner.

All you have to do is the drag and drop:
Google image search
  • Find some unknown images from your computer or from the internet
  • Go to Google Image Search
  • Select image, drag, and drop to Google image search bar.
  • it will return some similar images and web pages that contain same image.

If you are not satisfied, then you can try out some popular reverse image search engine like

Using Windows Performance Toolkit

Using Windows Performance Toolkit

I came across this forum post which details how to improve disk layout other than the runidletask command.

You need to install Windows Performance Toolkit by downloading the Windows 7 SDK. (Source).

Then run the commands under Administrative Permission (Source):
xbootmgr -trace boot -prepSystem -verboseReadyBoot
Note: This trick is for Harddisk System Drives only.

It will reboot up to 6 times and after that you should be left with a Windows 7 Installation with Optimized Disk Layout.

The best way to do this is to do it before you sleep
  1. Remove your Login Password for the night
  2. Set UAC to elevate without prompting
  3. By morning everything should be done
  4. Set Password and UAC back to the levels you are happy with
If you ask me I personally felt it worked for me to a certain extend, I will leave this here for you to try it out.

Thanks to the respective authors MagicAndre1981 from MSFN.org for sharing, there are also many other interesting tweaks to check out on the sites.

Using iOS 7 to Optimize iPhone Security

Using iOS 7 to Optimize iPhone Security

Using iOS 7 to optimize iPhone security
The latest iOS upgrade has brought with it new and unique ways to secure the iPhone. TechRepublic reported that although much of operating system has remained the same, updates to its design and improvements to workplace integration makes it a worthwhile change. Additionally, Apples passcode features have improved with a new alphanumeric password option.

Managing an iPhone with iOS 7

The bring your own device (BYOD) model for workplace integration has taken off, with more businesses allowing their employees to utilize smartphones, tablets and laptops, in place of their company-provided tools. As if in response to this trend, Apple released iOS 7 with features that enhance the functionality of the iPhone in an office setting.

According to TechRepublic, features such as AirDrop make sharing photos and documents fast and simple by connecting employees to one another, enabling a collaborative workplace environment for those who are utilizing this technology. Additionally, the source reported that Apple has also improved its overall app security by enabling a data protection function automatically, preserving any information transferred across these third-party app providers.

Another new resource that speaks to the iPhones updated security is the single sign-on (SSO) capability that will allow end-users to set a password once across applications that contain sensitive information. This option is especially useful for businesses that hope to safeguard the data employees might be accessing through the cloud because it can prevent code sharing.

The first step is securing the phone itself

None of the above options are innately secure, however. According to Toms Guide, its essential that end-users with a mind for safety make optimal use of their iPhones built-in security feature - the passcode.

The source reported that its one of the easiest ways to prevent accidentally or intentional breaches of data. Additionally, the upgrades to the iOS 7 platform have provided end-users with new options for creating and maintaining security. Traditionally, the lock screen was protected by a 4-digit passcode. Now, after Apples latest upgrade, it is possible to set alphanumeric protection, utilizing ten or more upper- and lower-case characters and numbers.

Toms Guide noted that the 4-digit PIN code has 10,000 combinations, which is difficult to hack but not impossible. With the newest option, it is much more challenging for individuals to break through this defense. In addition to this new safety measure, the iOS 7 upgrade enables users to program how often the device will ask for authentication. Rather than the traditional method, which asked for authentication every time the screen was opened, the iPhone can be set so that it will lock on a timed interval instead.

Does it really matter?

According to Security Watch, mobile devices have become a major part of the lives of users everywhere. The source referenced a study by Sprint that reported how frequently smartphones are accessed on a daily basis, and the one unifying factor is the risk associated with information exposure.

Because of the ability to access the Internet on the go, data security has become a constant concern that responsible individuals are having to overcome. Additionally, without utilizing passcodes and other features meant to preserve the integrity of stored information, issues with privacy are growing.

In order to preserve what Security Watch calls "our most personal computers," its important that smartphones are protected with verification features that are built into their operating systems. Additionally, it is possible to reinforce these safety precautions with password management software, which can provide an extra layer of defense against unwanted access.

The Risks and Benefits of Using 3D Home Tours

The Risks and Benefits of Using 3D Home Tours

3D home tours let potential buyers tour a property without physically being there, rather than just looking at a set of still images. For the first time, buyers can take a 3D tour of potential homes without ever setting foot on the property. When this new 3D technology was first available it was groundbreaking, but the technology is currently only in use by a tiny fraction of realtors.

At a glance, it could make a lot of sense to create a virtual tour, but as with any new technology, you have to look at it from all angles to evaluate potential risks. Here are some of the pros and cons of using 3D home tours.

Pros:

1. Immersion

Having the ability to get a good look at each room with a 3D tour can be far more immersive than photographs or videos. A 3D tour can help many potential buyers get a better look at the property than they could with any other form of media. This is one of the biggest advantages of using 3D home tours.

2. Long distance tours

If a buyer is located overseas, or its inconvenient for them to visit the property themselves, a 3D tour would be perfect for them. If used in conjunction with photos and videos, they allow potential buyers to get a really good look at the property in a simple and convenient manner, without ever having to travel to the property themselves.

3. Staying up to date with trends

3D home tours are only now becoming popular in mainstream media, and they havent been around for very long. In a market where many lag behind current trends, adding 3D home tours into their business strategy would make any real estate business stand out, giving them a competitive edge on everyone else.

Cons:

1. High Cost

As with all business choices, balancing the cost versus the benefits is extremely important. The cost to create a virtual tour can often be extremely expensive. For many, the cost might simply be too high to justify creating a 3D home tour for the property.

2. Less control than photographs

While far more immersive than photographs, letting potential clients pan and zoom around the house can also have its disadvantages. Even the greatest photo stitching programs can still distort the picture, or produce unwanted artifacts. And if the tour is poorly laid out, buyers could easily get the wrong impression of the property. While uncommon with high-quality 3D tours, these problems should always be considered.

Conclusion

Is it realistic for a business to incorporate 3D home tours into their marketing plan? For high-end properties, a virtual tour can be well worth the high price. However, while the advantages for real estate industry are clear, it may not be a good fit in some cases. There can be cases where photographs or video tours would be more appropriate, and low-end properties may not be worth enough to justify the high expense of creating a virtual tour.

While in many cases, the benefits of 3D home tours far outweigh the risks, in some cases the high cost involved may not be worth the trouble.

Streaming Video Using VLC

Streaming Video Using VLC

Edit:

There is a new solution. Simply go to adobe labs and install the new Flash Plugins 10.1 instead of 10.0.
The new plugin promises to offload video processing to the GPU reducing the CPU load.
Please remember to uninstall the old plugin before installing the new plugin.

If you installed it correctly and ran GPU-Z while watching youtube you should see this.

Here is a alternative solution for people having problems streaming youtube.
As you know youtube uses CPU to render the video hence if your CPU is not powerful enough you may experience playback issues (eg. Aspire Timeline with SU2700 Processor).
All laptop comes with good enough Graphics Processor to handle flash videos actually however to make use of the GPU to render flash you need VLC to convert the flash to utilise Video Codecs so the GPU can decode it here is a step by step guide.

Firstly download and install VLC

Next set VLC to DirectX so GPU will be utilised by VLC for playback

Next Launch VLC and select "Open Network Stream"

Enter the URL Containing the Video

Select Play and you are done!

To prove that CPU utilisation is lower using VLC playback:

Note the CPU utilisation averages at about 30-40%

While using VLC (Note: using GPU rendering forces the computer to turn off Aero Glass)

CPU utilisation averages between 10-20%.
The initial CPU spike is due to launching VLC and Setting it to URL Stream Mode.

However I have yet to figure out how to change the URL to High Quality Mode.
Suggestion anybody?

Edit: I found out how just append &fmt=22 to the end of the URL
